With the first full week of classes under our belt things around the Day School seem to be getting off to a great start. My classes are wonderful, my students are awesome, and the integration of new technology in the classroom is going well. Tonight is Open House and I am looking forward to meeting some new parents and seeing some familiar faces.

Day 2 of Faculty Pre-planning is going strong. Lots of things going on around campus (new construction, 1to1 training, technology upgrades to campus, etc). There are 12 new teachers at The Day School this year, many new names to learn! I'm looking forward to seeing my students and getting this school year started off right.

I am getting more and more excited about the future at FPD with the new 1:1 initiative. It is time to start educating 21st Century students with 21st Century methods! With the new Lenovo ThinkPad's and a fully wireless campus the possibilities are endless inside the classroom. Way to be on the cutting edge FPD!

Today in Tech Class we were exposed to a number of Web 2.0 Sites and Tools. One of the sites that I found to be a great option for my World History classes was TimeToast ( www.timetoast.com ). This is a free tool that allows teachers and students to create time lines dealing with topics on history, music, film, books, their own life, famous people, etc. It is an innovative and fun way to bring events and dates into the learning process. This tool could definitely be used effectively in the elementary, middle school, and high school classroom. The following is a link to a sample time line that I created about my life: http://www.timetoast.com/timelines/the-life-times-of-the-shane-hall
