    1. Romney believes you never balance the budget by raising taxes. He said we need to put people to work which will generate revenue which in turn will balance the budget.

  2. Did Obama say he suports small business? I am pretty sure he said this not but a month ago or so “OBAMA, TO BUSINESS OWNERS: ‘YOU DIDN’T BUILD THAT.’”

    1. I second (third) this statement. Not only is clean coal independance a great idea financially, but also ecologically. Which should, in fact, satisfy both the conservative and liberal sides. And in reply to what Carolyn said, I believe that using our own resources rather than depending on foreign resources would greatly help us in not falling deeper into debt. It would save SO much money and time. -Lily Garnett

  4. I felt that the President made good points about how Governor Romney's tax cut would put us in a 7 trillion debt. Even though Romney denies that number, the Presidents says that even with closing the loopholes, there would still be debt, so Romney is not actually lowering taxes.
Also, I'm really lost on how Romney can bring in "morals" to politics because what are morals? They can be different for everyone and what gives him authority to deem what programs are worth keeping? just by functionality?

    1. Romney has more experience with the numbers of businesses, and the country needs to run like a business right now. The federal government shouldn't concern itself with moral issues and those programs that aren't functioning, just like in any business, need to be cut. The federal government needs to be cut, they both agree on that, but Romney at least knows how he will do that, unlike Obama.

    2. Well okay but he said it should be based on whats morally right. so according to what you just said about govt not being concerned with morals i agree, but Romney did not say that. Also,The President knows how he will do it too though or he wouldn't have an argument at all.

      Delete
    3. Thats the point I was trying to make...He has no argument. And to Romney, morals are economically based. He's a class A business man. But like you asked in your first post it is about functionality and whether or not the government should intervene in certain things.

      Delete
    4. But obviously he has to have a point or he wouldnt have made it this far, correct? So if Romney's a "Class A business man" maybe he shouldnt be running for the presidency then and stick to business:)

    5. Financially our country is suffering. We need a business man type now more than ever. And its easy to manipulate people with words, but we are supposed to be nice and I will stop there.

    6. The number one topic of this election is the economy. We need someone who actually has some experience with money and leading an economy. This is Mitt Romney. The American People need results not simple failed promises that we have been recieving for the last 4 years. #romney is the way to go

  7. Romney specifically stated his 5 point plan and has been backing those 5 points. Some points are: 1. becoming energy independent 2. bettering education 3. championing small business 4. getting a handle on foreign business (like China)
He also mentioned that the federal government needs to hand over some of its responsibilities to the states where they can be more efficiently taken care of.

    1. Mary, I also got the same 5 points from Romney. I think these points are really going to help the American economy.

  8. I agree with Romney's point where he said it isn't fair or right for our government to clarelessly spend so much money now and not deal with the debt because then it will be passed on to future generations who will be unfairly forced to pay it off.

    1. I agree with you, Summer because this also promotes laziness in the present generation.

  9. I liked how President Obama said that he would create 100k teaching jobs in science and math yet it is the state governments that regulate teacheing positions for public schools and it is already cutting teaching positions. I was not suprised when Romney said that he did not want to tax the wealthy more but instead cut taxes for the middle class because that is who needs the tax cuts(speaking that acording to Forbes, he is worth $230 million dollars).

    1. Jackson you are a lot smarter than I ever thought. I agree with you completely! Mom and Dad would be so proud.

    2. First of all by creating 100k teaching jobs he would have to spend lots of money. This is also coming from a President who thinks we need to mantain our techonlogical leadership in the world. Just so you know we are currently ranked around 44th in the world in this area. Why should someone who has done well in this economy be forced to pay for slackers and those who don't work hard? Your moving towards socialism!!! Do you not remember Mr. Hall's unfair example of socialism? That's what this is.

      Delete
    3. I never took Obama's side on this. He dooes not have the power to create the 100k teaching jobs because it is THE STATES JOB TO EMPLOY EDUCATORS! Life also isn't fair, there is no way what so ever that there will be a fair share in taxes. If you have that kind of money then in my opinion you should pay more to the government. Not all people are slackers, some are hard workers yet have struggles in their lives and still cannot pay taxes, insurance, and etc.

  10. When Obama said that he plans on continuing in what he is already doing in our country, I liked that Romney said that the "status quo" was not going to cut anymore for the nation. I also agree with Romney's idea to stop borrowing money from china for unecessary programs.

  11. I totally agree with Romney on the topic of Obamacare. Government should not have the responsibility of healthcare. Instead, it should be in the hands of the state. It was a partison decision, and Obama is taking 700 billion dollars from healthcare to put towards Obamacare which is more expensive than the standard healthcare.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They need to go with Romney's healthcare plan that he put forth in his home state

      Delete
    2. I agree, Lauren. I think that the states would do a much better job at controlling healthcare, but maybe the government should regulate it (with the states approval), so that it remains neutral and unfavoring of any sector. I also think that the 700 billion dollars could be put to much better use than going into Obamacare.

  12. I love how President Obama is telling Governor Romney the details about Romney's own policy. When it comes down to it the President is simply wrong. That's a fact. Romney knows what his own policy includes and that is NOT 7 trillion dollars of debt. Also when Obama says "Many businesses are seeing price reductions in sending jobs overseas." Romney's response was in his 25 years of business, he has never seen this(another fact that cannot be argued with). Obama introduces hypocritical policies that leaves viewers with the question: "You've been the President for 4 years. What have you been doing and why hasn't it been what you are proposing right now?" -Conner Albright (busbee believes in abortion)

    1. Lets say that a woman is pregnant and the child has some physical defect, is nothing close to being a healthy baby, the mother is a substance abuser (drugs and alcohol)and has an addictive personality, has AIDS, or is not financially capable of properly caring for the child then I feel that that is a reason to have an abortion IF YOU WANT ONE. How would you say that it is killing a living person when it is not capable of living outside the womb on its own?
      BUZZ

      Delete
    2. Its killing the baby! You should not kill the baby if you can't financially support it...its called adaption. Just because the mother is a substance abuser doesnt mean the baby will have some physical defect. You arent giving the child a chance. Baby killer.

      Delete
    3. If the mother or father is a substance abuser then there is a higher risk for the baby to have a addictive personality as well, I was not talking about deformities there. How are you killing it if it is not alive, just because the heart beats does not mean that it is alive. Organs can function after death but the person is still dead.

      Delete
    4. The baby is breathing...so it makes it alive. When you die you stop breathing. You can't be dead and still be breathing. That is not true about addiction. The baby could grow up with no addictive personality to anything. You can't jump to conclusions when you do not know what the baby will turn out to be like.

      Delete
    5. That is not an assumption, sometimes addictive personalities can be passed down genetically. It is not breathing air, it still needs the mother as a host in order to finish developing. Wouldn't it be killing it in vain if it had a soul but when does the human being gain a soul, is it while in the womb or the first breath that it takes on its own after conception? If it doesn't have a soul then it is just a blob of matter not a human being; it will not go to heaven nor hell.

      Delete
    6. You are not 100% if it has a soul or not. The baby is living inside the mother so i would assume since it is alive it would have a soul. A baby inside the mother isn't a blob of matter it's a human, it's alive and breathing. Haven't you heard of when people murder a pregnant women they get charged of two accounts of murder, because the baby is alive. Also, it is just wrong to deprive an unborn child from its abilities it could have.So abortion is murder and GINGERS HAVE NO SOULS! so thats why you think killing a baby is okay.

      Delete
    7. Personally I hate gingers, they are a waste of space on Earth. I forgot that the judges in the court system were also doctors who went to medical school to know the stages of pregnancy. I still disagree, the fetus needs the mother as a host to feed, protect, and develop it.

    8. Why are you all debating abortion? This was not a topic from the debate. These will not count as your replys for homework.

  13. I think that Romney understands what he is talking about. His business skills will definitely help the economy succeed. Obama seems to be running around trying to figure out what he is supposed to say (Can we just taking a moment to appreciate to how Obama wasn't listening to Romney when he was talking about the Dodd Frank bill. I'm pretty sure each of them are drawing little caricature of each other with devil horns). I think that Romney is right about changing some restrictions on the Dodd Frank bill, but still keeping some around. It keeps things from being too oppressive or too loose. I think Obama has some priorties straight, but I think his lack of business skills put the economy in danger. He doesn't really seem to know what to do, but to be fair we are in the crap-hole (even though he did set us a couple trillion in there). Either way, American people are not going to be completely happy, because things have to change, but the change has consequences people are not going to like. Romney is right though it has been four years and things have gotten worse, and Obama is spending all his time on Obamacare, not trying to help the American people.

  15. I think that Romney sounded more prepared with his ideas. He had reasons to back them up. I agree with him on how the government needs to handle some responsibilities over to the state so they can be handled better than they are now. I just think that Obama does not know how to handle business and obviously is not going to help us when he hasn't made anything better in the last 4 years.

  16. Lily Garnett:

In regards to tonight's debate, I would like to state that for one, it appeared Mr. Romney was the more prepared and professional of the two candidates. He seemed to have all of his points locked into memory and knew all of his facts straight-off, whereas Mr. Obama continuously looked down at his notes and appeared quite scatterbrained and disorganized with his points. Mr. Romeny was also confident and very specific with all of his answers and replies, while the President elicited many "ummmms" and "uhhhs" in a fluster. Mr. Romney was quick to defend his strong political policies that he is supporting and always looked the President in the eye and addressed him politely. Obama, on the other hand, almost NEVER looked Mr. Romney in the eye, much less the camera, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, straight-on either and constantly misquoted many of Mr. Romneys ideas, twisting them in an attempt to create an advantage for himself. His arrogant smirks and side comments about Mr. Romney addressing him as "Mr. President" were not appreciated by this young, but still American, citizen.

I will conclude by saying that I am thoroughly disappointed that Mr. Ryan did not make an appearance tonight...
